A1: Out-of-pocket expenses for unexpected injuries, extended quarantine costs, faulty paperwork, and loss of equipment can cause serious financial setbacks for the owner and client. TravelPlus™ reimburses the client directly based on the published benefit schedule of their TravelPlus™ transporter. TravelPlus™ safeguards the owner’s investment through this additional layer of equine protection that guards against unforeseen accidents.
A2: TravelPlus™ protects horses that travel with participating transporters. There is no activation necessary – it becomes an automatic benefit of transporting with TravelPlus™ transporters. For specific benefit schedules for each transporter, please view the landing page for each specific transport service.
A3: No, it is a benefit program that is automatically extended to your horse through their participating transporter. Critically, TravelPlus™ does not allow for double recovery alongside traditional insurance. TravelPlus™ helps fill in the gaps left by traditional insurance.
A4: The answer? Absolutely. TravelPlus™ does not replace insurance. It does protect you from what insurance does not cover. If your horse is injured during transport, you should still file a claim with your insurance provider as you normally would. TravelPlus™ administers specific benefits on behalf of the transporter that may not be covered by traditional insurance.
A5: All incidents must be filed and reported via the TravelPlusProtection.com website no later than five (5) days after the incident. You will need to include any relevant veterinary records alongside the incident in question. Due to privacy laws, TravelPlus™ and their participating transporters cannot procure these documents; they will need to be provided from the owner/client and attached with the incident report. Incidents reported more than five (5) days after their occurrence are ineligible for benefits. All veterinary invoices must be provided within seven (7) days from the date of submitting the incident report or the file will be closed and benefits denied.
A6: TravelPlus™ is an automatic part of shipping your horse with our participating transporters, both ground and air. Each transporter provides specific benefits for the needs of their clients based on the type and level of horses they transport. These specific benefits can be found on the respective landing pages of our participating transporters for specific details of what is protected with TravelPlus™.
A7: After the due diligence regarding an incident has been performed, TravelPlus™, at the discretion of the transporter, will reimburse the horse owner directly.
A8: Good question – the answer is a little complicated. Any transporter participating with TravelPlus™ can specify a mortality benefit. This varies according to each transporter. Specific benefits can be found on the benefits schedule specific to each transporter. Any money you receive won’t exceed the total assessed value of your horse. Your horse’s value may be determined independently by TravelPlus™ and/or our advisors and may not equate with the monetary value of your existing mortality policy.
No. However, TravelPlus™ may provide a partial reimbursement for some diagnostics in the event there is an incident related to a pre-existing or chronic condition.
A10: Yes. The horse’s benefits can be used to pay for ambulatory transportation costs.
